Esther's Story [electronic resource]
Gill, Helen M2020
eBook
Esther Goldsmith HUGHES was my great grandmother – that is, my mother’s mother’s mother and although she was small in stature she had an indomitable spirit. Born in 1866 almost thirty years after Queen Victoria came to the throne, Esther’s eighty one year life span would see the death of the old queen; the crowning of three new kings; the abdication crisis of the future King Edward VIII and the trauma and deprivations of two world wars.I was only two years old when Esther died and cannot remember her but one precious photograph of us together has survived and now in writing down her story, hopefully her memory will live on for generations to come.I must thank, once again, my husband Roger for assembling my work into one book, printing it out and binding it so efficiently.I hope you enjoy reading it.
