Complicit in Doctor Brooking's efforts to create a monster, Gregory Conrad is ultimately forced to make the main contribution himself, losing his life in the process. However, Brooking discovers that the thing is genius has brought to life processes a will of its own, as well as superhuman powers. Jerry Tern, an investigative reporter, and Vivienne Conrad, Gregory's sister, join forces to investigate her brother's disappearance, but soon become captives of the monster - the so-called Blue Peril of the popular press - and witness first hand its reign of terror.
