Llewelyn Alberic Emilius Price-Davies was awarded the Victoria Cross when serving with the King's Royal Rifle Corps during the Second Boer War. He went on to serve as Divisional Corps liaison officer in 1914-15 and was promoted through the ranks during the First World War. His correspondence offers a are insight into the changing face of the British Army at this time and includes secret memos to his brother-in-law Chief of the Imperial General Staff, Field Marshal Henry Wilson. Serving at Ypres, Somme and Passchendaele, his letters powerfully evoke the dramatic action.
